Descriptions

Skype is a software application that allows users to make phone calls using voice over Internet Protocol. Phone and video calls between Skype users are completely free, and calls to landlines and mobile phones require the purchase of credit. Also, this program provides users with various other facilities such as instant messenger, file transfer, video conference and voice mail. Skype is a peer-to-peer telephone communication network that was created by the Swedish Niklas Zenström and the Danish Janus Ferris. The two previously collaborated on a file-sharing network called Kazaa. By the end of 2009, Skype had more than 500 million users. The company supporting this network, called Skype Group, was bought by eBay in 2005, and in 2011, Microsoft bought Skype for $8.5 billion. The headquarters of this company is located in Luxembourg and it has branches in London, Paris, Tallinn and Prague. Privacy in Skype: New information released by the great whistleblower, Edward Snowden, shows that Microsoft is providing the NSA (National Security Agency) in bulk with the video and audio data that pass through the Skype platform. Considering that Skype has already been used by the Chinese government to spy on the affairs of the Chinese people, it can be said that it has become one of the biggest enemies of privacy in the world. Operating systems covered: Skype covers almost all available operating systems and you can use Skype on Android phones, Mac operating systems, Windows, Blackberry operating systems and Linux for free. Skype services: Skype provides some of its services for free to its users. Some of these free services include calls to free numbers, calls to other Skype users, group calls by voice, video, text with other Skype users.
